Discussion page·3 threads·no archives

This article is within the scope of the pharmacology working group.

This is the discussion page for the article Albumin binding half-life extension. It is for improving the article: sources, wording, structure, scope and titles. It is not a general discussion forum about the subject, and it is not a place to ask for advice — see Project:Medical disclaimer.

Bound fraction figureResolved

"Exceeds 99%" — for both molecules? The published figures differ at the second decimal place and that difference matters for free-drug concentration. HalfLifeHavel (talk) 10:22, 7 April 2026 (UTC)

It does, but the second decimal place is method-dependent and I would rather not put a number in that a reader will treat as exact. The current wording says free drug is under 1% of total, which is the point. ✓ Done MolarMassMaeve (talk) 13:48, 7 April 2026 (UTC)

Resolved. This thread is closed. Reopening it is fine if new sources appear; please add a new subsection rather than editing the closed discussion.

The Arg34 explanation is the clearest statement of why that substitution exists that I have seen anywhere, and it belongs in the article rather than only here. Suggest keeping it. SPPS_Sorrel (talk) 09:05, 15 February 2026 (UTC)

Agreed, and I have added the link to Preparative HPLC purification since the cost argument only makes sense if the reader knows what separating the two species involves. ✓ Done FmocFrancis (talk) 11:30, 15 February 2026 (UTC)

Should this be merged into the agonist article?Merge proposal

Merge proposal. A merge has been proposed below. Length alone is not a merge argument; the question is whether the two subjects are distinguishable in the sources.

Proposing merge into GLP-1 receptor agonist, where half-life extension is already summarised in a table. MergeMorwenna (talk) 14:10, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

Oppose. The strategy is not specific to that class — it is used in insulin analogues and elsewhere — and the analytical consequences section has no home in a drug-class article. SPPS_Sorrel (talk) 16:55, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

Closing as not merged. One support, two opposes, and the scope argument is sound. ConsensusConal (talk) 09:20, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
