Talk:Research use only

Discussion page·3 threads·2 archives

This article carries the standing statement that research-use-only material is not approved for human use. That sentence appears on every supplier article and is not a matter of local editorial preference.

This is the discussion page for the article Research use only. It is for improving the article: sources, wording, structure, scope and titles. It is not a general discussion forum about the subject, and it is not a place to ask for advice — see Project:Medical disclaimer.

Do we state the position for any named jurisdiction?Resolved

The legal section deliberately names no jurisdiction. A reader arriving here wants to know about theirs, and sending them away with three general points may be the wrong service. FiveOhThreeB (talk) 10:55, 13 August 2025 (UTC)

The general points are the ones that survive being wrong about a particular country. A per-jurisdiction account that goes stale is worse than none, and we have no mechanism for keeping twenty of them current. Compounding_Cate (talk) 15:31, 13 August 2025 (UTC)

Agree, with one addition: the article should say explicitly that it does not state the position for any jurisdiction, so a reader knows the omission is deliberate rather than an oversight. GMP_Gita (talk) 09:08, 14 August 2025 (UTC)

Sentence added at the head of the section. ✓ Resolved FiveOhThreeB (talk) 11:42, 15 August 2025 (UTC)

Resolved. This thread is closed. Reopening it is fine if new sources appear; please add a new subsection rather than editing the closed discussion.
