Trigger versus amplification framingResolved

Strongly support keeping the trigger/amplify distinction in the lead. It is the one idea that makes the hypoglycaemia difference between drug classes obvious, and readers arriving from the agonist articles need it early. BetaCellBoyd (talk) 09:18, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

Agreed. I moved it up from the third paragraph to the second. ✓ Done Peptide_Pete (talk) 11:55, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

Beta-cell mass at diagnosis: the number keeps changing

Different sources give different figures for the fraction of beta-cell function lost at diagnosis, from about a third to about four fifths. The article now avoids a single number, which I think is right, but should it say why the estimates disagree? CitationChaser (talk) 13:05, 24 April 2026 (UTC)

Because functional and morphometric estimates measure different things and neither is measurable prospectively in living people. I have added a clause to that effect. BetaCellBoyd (talk) 16:40, 24 April 2026 (UTC)

That clause is a good addition. It converts an apparent contradiction into an explained one. HedgeHedda (talk) 09:12, 25 April 2026 (UTC)

Which secretion index should the article recommend?Done

Should the measurement section say which index a reader should prefer? HOMA_Hettie (talk) 10:30, 2 June 2026 (UTC)

No. Recommending is not our function. Describing what each index measures and warning that they are not interchangeable is. NPOV_Nadia (talk) 12:44, 2 June 2026 (UTC)

Fair. The non-interchangeability sentence covers the practical need. ✓ Done HOMA_Hettie (talk) 15:02, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
