Concentrated catalogue makes the report set more interpretableResolved
A point worth making carefully. This organisation's report set is large and concentrated on a handful of analytes, where most sets are spread across dozens. A concentrated set is more internally comparable, because fewer of the between-report differences come from different chemistries.
That is a statement about the set's interpretability, not about the material. I want it in the article but I want it worded so nobody can read it as a quality claim. — — TallySheetTad (talk) 11:14, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
Support, and the wording should be explicit that dispersion is a property of the reports. The same care is needed on the Wuhan article, where a wide dispersion has repeatedly been read as a quality finding by editors on both sides. — — AnalyticalAnnie (talk) 14:38, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
Support with the standard caveat sentence appended. The symmetry requirement holds: if narrow dispersion is described as more interpretable here, wide dispersion must be described as less interpretable there — not as worse. — — NPOV_Nadia (talk) 09:52, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
Written to that, and I have checked the Wuhan article uses the mirrored formulation. ✓ Resolved — — TallySheetTad (talk) 10:27, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
Method disclosure within one report setDone
The most interesting thing in this article is buried at the end of §Independent testing record: within a single organisation's report set, certificates that stated a method produced closer agreement than those that did not.
That is close to a controlled comparison of the effect of method disclosure, which is not available anywhere else on the wiki. It deserves more than a closing sentence. — — GradientGus (talk) 12:33, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
Agreed, and it is the best available evidence for a claim Area percent purity makes on general grounds — that much of the routine disagreement between purity figures is methodological. Worth cross-linking in both directions. — — AnalyticalAnnie (talk) 15:07, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
Support. The counts should be stated for each subgroup, because "closer agreement" without n is not much of a finding. — — Retention_Time_Rae (talk) 09:44, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
Promoted, cross-linked, and counts added. ✓ Done — — GradientGus (talk) 10:18, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
