Mean kinetic temperature: the worked exampleResolved
The MKT example uses a 12-hour cycle between 2 and 30 °C, which the text admits is unrealistic. Would a realistic profile not make the point better? A shipment that sits four hours on a ramp is the case readers actually face. — — PlainNumbersPip (talk) 11:19, 8 April 2025 (UTC)
The realistic case is at Temperature excursion, deliberately, so the two articles do not carry the same arithmetic. The extreme case is here because it shows the mechanism most starkly: half the time at 2 °C moves the answer by six degrees, not fourteen. Checked the arithmetic. e to the minus 36.3438 over e to the minus 32.9869 is 0.03485; the mean of the two exponentials is e to the minus 32.9869 times 0.51742; minus its natural log is 33.6460; ten thousand over that is 297.21 K.
